| St. Matthew’s Church in Millbrook Jersey was first consecrated in 1840 as a “chapel of ease” so that the villagers would no longer have to traipse up the hill to St. Lawrence ancient church. The glass interior was not installed until 1934 when Lady Florence Trent commissioned Monsieur Rene Lalique of Paris to refurbish the interior of the church in memory of her late husband, Jesse Boot (founder of Boots the Chemist). A.B. Grayson, a local architect collaborated with Lalique and created the unique interior you see today. |
